Store Worker Assaulted During Failed Robbery in the Bronx, NYPD Investigates

The New York Police Department is on the lookout for an individual connected to a violent crime that occurred in the Bronx earlier this month.

The NYPD Crimestoppers released a statement that an attempted robbery took place on Saturday at approximately 4:04 P.M., inside a business located at 3706 3rd Avenue in the purview of the 42nd Precinct.

According to the police report, the suspect engaged in a brazen act, assaulting a 21-year-old store employee with pepper spray in an effort to steal property from the establishment. The status of the employee’s health, post-incident has not been publicly shared, nor has the nature or value of the property the suspect attempted to snatch.

The NYPD has turned to the community for assistance, offering a reward of up to $3,500 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. In their public call to action, the NYPD urges anyone with information to reach out by calling 800-577-TIPS or by submitting a tip anonymously online at the official Crimestoppers website.

The NYPD Crimestoppers also shared a link to a video of the incident on their Facebook page, to aid in the identification of the suspect.

The NYPD has not released additional information regarding the suspect’s identity or whether they have been involved in previous crimes in the area. 

The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’10” tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and jeans.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by retail workers in the Bronx, who have been subjected to a series of violent crimes in recent months. The NYPD continues to investigate and is committed to ensuring the safety of all community members.
