Oceanside police to conduct weekend DUI checkpoint

With assistance from other law enforcement organizations, the Oceanside Police Department will carry out a DUI checkpoint this week.

The police said the checkpoint will be at an unannounced location in Oceanside from 6 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to police officials, data demonstrating the number of crashes caused by drunk driving is used to determine the sites of DUI checkpoints.

According to the department, many prescription drugs are also impairing substances, even though DUI instances are frequently linked to alcohol.

It is illegal to drive while under the influence of cannabis, even though adults 21 years of age and older are allowed to possess a small amount of the drug.
