The 9th Annual Back-To-School Haircut Drive, presented by the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation, is back and will provide children and families in San Diego County with essential back-to-school assistance.
The purpose of this event is to help youngsters begin the new school year with dignity and confidence, as families continue to struggle with the growing expenses of basics, clothing, and school supplies.

It’s not just a haircut at this community event. Giving children the resources they require to succeed and assisting families in feeling encouraged, acknowledged, and honored are the main goals. Over 1,500 children attended the event last year, and more than 500 of them received complimentary haircuts. More families are anticipated to attend this year.

When a youngster leaves with a smile, a new haircut, and the self-assurance to start a new school year, there is nothing more valuable.

All children and families are welcome to attend. While not necessary, registration is requested for haircuts. First-come, first-served will apply to all services, including food and supplies.To commemorate the legacy of the late San Diego news reporter Larry Himmel, who died in 2014, the Larry Himmel Neighborhood Foundation was founded. By offering assistance, resources, and opportunities to individuals in need around the region, the Foundation continues Larry’s lifelong mission of sharing the stories of regular San Diegans.
