Effective goaltending is crucial for winning on the soccer field.

The Crusaders Soccer Club’s program frequently emphasizes putting forth a lot of effort in the net.

Varuzhan Hovhanesian, Jesus Serrano, and Chava Manzo are among the talented goalkeepers that Crusaders director of coaching Victor Melendez has put together.

This season, we want to have San Diego’s most significant goalkeeping program. Varuzhian Hovhanesian, one of the top goalkeeping coaches, was hired by us. He is a San Diegan who has traveled abroad. He is currently our goalkeeping program coordinator after playing for Real Oviedo in the second tier for two years in Spain.

Professor Salvador Manzo was added to the mix last month, according to Melendez.

In addition to being a member of the coaching staff for the Mexican national team that competed in the 2022 Dubai World Cup, Melendez noted that Manzo had a lengthy background in small-sided soccer, including Fut7, futsal, and mini-soccer.

Professor Jesus Serrano, a university goalie and Olympic high jumper who has competed in the University and Central American Games and won multiple gold and silver medals, serves as the third goalkeeping coach. Serrano will instruct goalkeepers on technical concepts, emphasizing mechanics and directing our goalkeepers’ motor development.

Through the development of technical, physical, and tactical fundamentals both on and off the field, as well as by maintaining humility, being a good human being, and constantly directing their life with strong values and respect for their family and the Crusaders family, I hope to help the goalkeeper grow,” Serrano continued. In order to achieve their objectives and improve themselves daily, players should strive for the unattainable.

As a goalkeeper coach, it is my responsibility to teach our goalkeepers fundamental abilities like distribution, positioning, and shot-stopping, Manzo stated. Use drills and game scenarios to concentrate on improving technique, agility, and decision-making. By adjusting coaching to the age and ability level of each player, we foster confidence, mental toughness, and teamwork. Analyze performance, offer criticism, and maintain a secure, encouraging environment to help our goalkeepers develop their skills and self-assurance while putting a focus on discipline and sportsmanship.

The purpose of our goalkeeping program is to produce technically proficient, self-assured, and game-ready goalkeepers. Hovhanesian went on. We offer customized coaching on positioning, shot-stopping, distribution, and communication through targeted weekly training sessions. The program helps players of all ages and skill levels develop their leadership, confidence, and competence between the posts under the direction of seasoned goalie instructors.
