Alleged DUI hit-and-run boater arrested after crash into USS Midway

Authorities said Monday that a boater who reportedly ran away after the 65-foot boat he was operating collided with the side of the moored USS Midway on the San Diego Bay waterfront has been arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and drunken boating.

Just before noon on Friday, the private yacht, piloted by 40-year-old Frank D. Anna, collided with the port-side hull of the retired aircraft carrier in the Embarcadero area, according to the San Diego Harbor Police Department.

By the time authorities arrived, the Offshore Lifestyle had vanished, but port police subsequently located it close to the Coronado Ferry Landing, spoke with all seven occupants, and arrested D Anna.

The harbor police said no one was hurt in the crash, either on the boat or aboard the Midway, now a floating military museum.
