A dog was pulled behind a moving vehicle on July 2 in Spring Valley, a horrifying instance of animal cruelty for which San Diego County Animal Services has identified the perpetrator.
The owner of the dog called Animal Services after watching video of the incident on TV and acknowledged that his dog and his truck were involved. Officers from Animal Control came to the man’s house and verified that he was the motorist in the video. Charges are being filed with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office after the suspect confessed to the crime, according to ABC10.
Unfortunately, before the authorities arrived, the dog had already been put down at a veterinary clinic owing to the severity of its injuries. However, in order to preserve evidence for the inquiry, Animal Services managed to intercept the remains before to cremation.
Vaughn Maurice, director of San Diego County Animal Services, described this occurrence as deeply sad and upsetting. Our hearts ache for this dog and what it went through, even though we are happy to have found the culprit.
The department requested public assistance and posted a graphic video of the incident earlier in the inquiry. The suspect was described as a Caucasian man in his 30s with long blond or brown hair and a red beard, and the car was characterized as an older model black Jeep Cherokee. Authorities at the time were attempting to identify the present driver because they thought the car might have belonged to someone else.
