The Georgia State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) recognized Clarksville Police Officer Terry Lee Palmer for his valiant acts during a life-threatening event last year during the city council meeting on Monday, July 7.
According to a statement from the Georgia FOP, Palmer was honored for his brave act of valor and life-saving actions during his reaction to an incident at the Cameron Circle Apartments on September 7, 2024.
According to FOP Lodge #112 President Michael Palmer, Officer Palmer advertised a possible mass shooting involving citizens as well as an attack on police officers. He then gave the offender life-saving treatment. We will always be thankful for his unselfish deed.
The GBI is still working on a medical examiner’s report, according to Clarkesville Police Chief Daniel Clouatre, thus the case’s specifics could not be fully revealed during the conference. He was unable to provide a timeline for when it will be finished and the matter closed.
According to Clouatre, most people don’t comprehend Terry’s behavior, but we can’t provide a lot of specifics until everything is finished. You only see the crimes you haven’t committed; you never see the crimes you have stopped.Georgia State Senator Bo Hatchett, Clarkesville Police Officer Terry Lee Palmer, Clarkesville Police Chief Danny Clouatre, FOP Lodge #112 President Michael Palmer, FOP Awards Committee Chairperson Craig Fulghum, and Georgia State Representative Victor Anderson are pictured from left to right. Craig Fulghum, chairperson of the Awards Committee, and Georgia FOP President Michael Callahan presented the award on Palmer’s behalf. Both Clouatre and Michael Palmer nominated Palmer for the award.
According to Michael Palmer, it is crucial for all of us in law enforcement to give credit where credit is due. Every officer is taught to make snap decisions on a daily basis.
Every year, the Georgia FOP honors officers throughout the state for their exceptional service. The chance to honor a fellow officer from his own lodge made the distinction very important for Michael Palmer, who is also a member of the FOP Awards Committee.
In the modern world, it is crucial that all law enforcement personnel are given due recognition for the exceptional work they perform. He added that the FOP is honored to support that endeavor.
The risks posed by police enforcement nationwide were also emphasized in the news release. 342 cops countrywide were shot in 2024 alone, with 18 of the shootings occurring in Georgia. 18 people were killed when 79 of them were ambushed. The FOP said that this number did not rise as a result of Officer Palmer’s activities.
With more than 377,000 members, the Georgia Fraternal Order of Police is a member of the biggest law enforcement organization in the country, representing more than 7,500 officers throughout the state. Through campaigning for legislation, training, and education, the group is dedicated to assisting cops.
