In honor of America’s 249th birthday, Demorest’s Glorious Fourth is back this year.
The July 4th event on Friday will begin with a 5K in the morning, and the well-known Glorious Fourth Parade will follow at 11 a.m. The parade will start at Florida Street and Central Avenue/Hwy. 441 and proceed past Piedmont University through the center of downtown.
Demorest City Councilmember Shawn Allen tells Now Habersham, “We decided that it’ll go back to being an all-day event, and I’m excited for it.”In July 2024, John Berry and his band play at Demorest Springs Park’s Glorious Fourth performance. Source: NowHabersham.com/Daniel Purcell
Sarah Rumsey, a demorest utilities clerk, is once again in charge of planning the event.
There will be 21 vendors total, split equally between craft and food merchants. According to her, there will be entertainment at the pavilion next to the post office from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. There will be a petting zoo, bouncy houses, and, I believe, a cooling station, much like last year.

In order to give spectators time to go to an open viewing place, the city typically permits some lag time between the conclusion of the concert and the start of the fireworks. The park cannot see the fireworks because of the forest cover. Between Florida and Alabama Streets, near Demorest City Hall, is the ideal place to see fireworks.
