While the Muskegon Community College baseball team wasn’t able to make it to the playoffs with their 26-23-1 record, shortstop Shane Thompson was able to thrive in his sophomore year as a player and as a teammate.

“I couldn’t ask for a better young man,” Head Coach Nathaniel Glant explained. “[Thompson] shows his teammates and everyone around him that it’s ok to be a good person, just to be a good person these days.  One of the most upstanding human beings I have been around regardless of his age. He just does things the right way.”

Thompson, hailing from the Sault Area High School class of 2018, finished the season with a .414 batting average, 36 hits, and 20 RBIs. He has made the academic honors list to go along with numerous Division I offers.

“[Thompson] will go on and play baseball at the four-year level and beyond if he wants,” said Glant. “He has the talent and work ethic to play professional baseball whether that is affiliated baseball or independent. He has had offers and interest from schools in every division ranging from Division 1 schools to NAIA schools. He will find the right fit for him and will help a team stack a lot of wins up while he is there.”
