80-year-old man killed in three-vehicle crash in Hall County

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reports that a man from Gainesville lost his life in a three-vehicle collision on McEver Road Thursday afternoon.

Around 4:30 p.m., a deadly collision happened near the intersection of Vineyard Way and McEver Road.

According to investigators, Sandra Raquel Garcia, 36, of Gainesville, was waiting to turn left onto Vineyard Way when her 2019 Honda Civic was stopped in the southbound turn lane. Garcia’s car was rear-ended by a southbound 2014 Nissan Sentra driven by an 80-year-old Gainesville man, which forced it into the intersection. Then, Garcia’s vehicle was hit on the side by a northbound 2024 Kia Forte driven by Gainesville resident Brooke Allison Tortorigi, 39.

The Sentra driver was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by Hall County Fire Rescue, where he was declared deceased. His next of kin are being notified by authorities.

Tortorigi, Garcia, and her 10-year-old male passenger were all transported to the hospital with minor wounds.

For almost ninety minutes, McEver Road’s southbound lanes were blocked while investigators looked into the incident and cleared the area. The accident is still being looked into by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
