By an incredible feat of talent and grit, the Jayhawks Women’s Softball team (31-6) have advanced to Nationals. The Jayhawks slipped through the Jets’ fingers by a score of 8-7 in their deciding game this week. The National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Championship tournament will be held May 25-29 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.

Next to winning, the highlight of Tuesday’s game was when Kennadi Dykstra, softball player for the Jayhawks, launched a softball so far out that it crashed right through a Jets fan’s rear car window. “It felt amazing. I knew when it came off my bat it was going to go over the fence,” Dykstra commented. “It felt so good to secure that win for my team.”

That powerful swing pushed the Jayhawks to victory. So far, MCC is the champion of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference. Dykstra and her team had this win planned. “At the beginning of the season, we set our goals to be at conference, regional, and national champions.” With all of the girls’ hard work and dedication, MCC hopes to see the Jayhawks bring home a win at Nationals.
