The FBI stated that the wooden instrument was taken from the home on December 8, 2020, but it did not elaborate on the location or identify a potential suspect.This 310-year-old violin is owned by art dealer Rowland Weinstein, who runs the Weinstein Gallery in San Francisco and divides his time between San Francisco and Los Angeles, according to an item in the Los Angeles Times dated December 20, 2020.
According to reports, the violin was in his white Tesla when it was stolen, along with the car, from outside his Los Feliz residence.The Italian Amati family, renowned for their skillful violin-making, created the rare and priceless instrument. At auction, these incredibly rare instruments have sold for anything from $500,000 to $917,000.
