$465K video display installed at Raider Stadium

Raider Stadium now features a huge LED screen installed by the Habersham County School District. The $465,000 video screen is more over 1,000 square feet in size and almost two stories high. Between the softball and football fields on the west side of the stadium, it was put in place over the weekend.

At their meeting on July 28, the Habersham County Board of Education overwhelmingly approved the expenditure. Funds from Assigned Local Capital Projects provided the funding.Source: NowHabersham.com/Daniel Purcell

Football field upgrades since 2015

Over the past ten years, the school system has invested over $3.6 million in a number of major modifications to John Larry Black Field and Raider Stadium.

To create a new artificial turf field, an 8-lane running track, and a new LED stadium, the Board of Education authorized spending $2.5 million from its reserve account in 2015. The installation of a video display scoreboard on the east end of the field and infrastructure for better communications were also included in that project.

The school system invested over $90,000 in 2020 to upgrade the reserved area on Raider Stadium’s home side with 600 new stadium-style seats.

Additionally, Habersham Schools used $621,400 from a capital projects account last year, in 2024, to replace the turf on John Larry Black Field.
