A new request for information on Daniel Macias’ unsolved 2016 shooting death is being made by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.
Macias, 28, of Athens, was shot following a confrontation with a person at Hancock Avenue and Jackson Street in downtown Athens on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at approximately 2:38 a.m. His wounds caused his death.
Shortly before, around 2:35 a.m., a figure of interest was spotted strolling down Hancock Avenue in front of the courthouse parking garage. The public is being asked to assist detectives in identifying and tracking down this individual.Daniel Macias was shot and killed in Athens’ Hancock Avenue at the age of 28. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information that results in an arrest. An extra $10,000 prize is being offered by the Macias family for information that results in an arrest and conviction.
